Amaravati, March 5, 2026: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has installed a 'spot mosquito eliminator' machine on a trial basis in Currency Nagar to tackle rising mosquito density and prevent diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and filaria.
VMC Commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M. inspected the device, noting its effectiveness in reducing mosquito numbers, with plans to deploy it across high-risk areas in the city.
The initiative pairs with an upcoming 'spot mosquito sensor trapper' that collects real-time data on mosquito types, breeding sources, and locations via a centralized dashboard. This data will guide targeted drone spraying for precise control.
