BJP claims 85% of national parties income in 2024-25

Newsroom, March 06, 2026: Six national parties BJP, Congress, CPI(M), AAP, BSP, and National People's Party reported a combined income of ₹7,960 crore for the financial year 2024-25, based on audited accounts submitted to the Election Commission.

The BJP led by a wide margin with ₹6,769 crore, or 85.03% of the total, while Congress came second at ₹918 crore. Other figures included CPI(M) at ₹173 crore, BSP at ₹59 crore, and AAP at ₹39 crore.

The BJP's income jumped 56% from the previous year, driven largely by donations and contributions, which formed about 85% of national parties' overall receipts.

In contrast, Congress saw a 25% drop. Some parties, including Congress and BSP, reported spending more than their declared income.
