Amaravati, March 06, 2026: Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) from across Andhra Pradesh gathered in Vijayawada for a major demonstration at Dharna Chowk, pressing for better compensation and working conditions amid rising responsibilities like new digital tools.

The protesters, led by the A.P. ASHA Workers’ Union, sought an honorarium increase to ₹26,000, various leaves including weekly offs and medical, workload reduction, quality mobile phones, uniforms, more positions based on population, and funeral expense aid.

Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav met union leaders and responded constructively, committing to align leaves with national norms, supply phones and uniforms, fill 1,363 vacancies soon, and consider funeral support up to ₹15,000.

Pay revision talks will reach the Chief Minister, with workers agreeing to a three-month review period before any escalation.
