Amaravati, March 06, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu strongly rebutted claims by YSRCP MLC M. Arun Kumar that farmers received no compensation for crop damage from natural calamities and faced heavy losses due to unpaid crop insurance premia.

Speaking in the Legislative Council, the Minister noted that the previous administration reduced compensation from ₹17,000 to ₹12,000 per hectare, while the current TDP-led coalition raised it to ₹25,000 per hectare, particularly for those hit by Budameru floods.

He added that the prior government failed to pay the state's share under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for three years, prompting the NDA regime to revive the scheme for better coverage.
