Amaravati, March 04, 2026: Panchayat Raj authorities in Prakasam district are working swiftly on the State Election Commission's directions to finalize and publish voter lists for gram panchayats by March 9.
The process involves splitting Assembly constituency rolls (updated to January 1, 2026) into village panchayat-wise and ward-wise segments, separating rural and urban voters unlike the polling station format used in general elections.
With gram panchayat councils' terms ending April 2, 2026, preparations target elections likely in March–April.
Prakasam district covers 519 gram panchayats, while the newly formed Markapuram district has 406, totalling 1,046 from the earlier combined area. District Panchayat Officer M Venkateswara Rao confirmed that thorough cross-verification precedes the March 9 release.
