Amaravati, March 04, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who holds the Forest and Environment portfolio, launched the HANUMAN initiative Healing and Nurturing Units for Monitoring, Aid and Nursing of Wildlife on March 3 at the APSP 6th Battalion Parade Grounds in Mangalagiri near Vijayawada.
The project tackles rising human-wildlife conflicts in forest fringe villages, where animals cause crop damage, livestock losses, and risks to human safety.
The scheme features 93 rapid response vehicles and seven wildlife ambulances flagged off during the event, plus four rescue and treatment centres in Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Tirupati, and Atmakur.
Nineteen rapid response teams, staffed by forest officers, vets, and trained locals, ensure quick action. Village-level 'Vajra' volunteers handle minor incidents, while AI monitoring and GPS wildlife tracking provide early warnings to communities.
Compensation has doubled for human deaths to Rs 10 lakh and injuries to Rs 2 lakh, with livestock paid at market value.
