Amaravati, March 03, 2026: YSRCP general secretary M.V.S. Nagi Reddy has highlighted the severe squeeze on farmers' livelihoods in Andhra Pradesh.

He points out that essential inputs like green manure seeds now cost over ₹17,500 per 100 kg, while farmers sell pulses at below ₹8,000 per 100 kg often less than half the input expense.

Crops such as maize, soybean, cotton, and pulses frequently trade below Minimum Support Price without strong government procurement, worsening the crisis.

Nagi Reddy criticizes the lack of safeguards against imports, urging a policy where landed costs of imported goods stay at least 10% above MSP to protect local producers.
