Amaravati, March 03, 2026: Andhra Pradesh BJP chief PVN Madhav urged authorities to arrest the key figure he described as the "main architect" of the liquor scam that unfolded under the prior YSRCP government.

He accused the old liquor policy of enabling brand manipulation, sidelining digital payments, and promoting cash-based deals that favoured select players and caused widespread social harm.

The scam, linked to centralized liquor operations through the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited from 2019 to 2024, faces allegations of massive financial losses estimated at Rs 3,200-3,500 crore.

A Special Investigation Team has filed a detailed charge sheet, leading to arrests, asset seizures worth over Rs 62 crore, and cases against dozens. Recent developments include surrenders and court remands of key accused, keeping the probe active.
