Amaravati, March 02, 2026: Senior IAS officer K. Vijayanand (1992 batch) formally assumed the role of Ex-Officio Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister at the Secretariat on Monday.

This follows his superannuation as Chief Secretary on February 28, after a three-month extension. Vedic scholars from local temples offered blessings during the ceremony, attended by senior officials and employee representatives.

The Andhra Pradesh government re-employed Vijayanand effective March 1 for one year or until further orders.

He also holds full additional charge as Special Chief Secretary (Energy Department) and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of APTRANSCO. In these capacities, he reports directly to the Chief Minister. The transition saw G. Sai Prasad (1991 batch) take over as the new Chief Secretary.
