Amaravati, March 02, 2026: The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) conducted a swift operation in Siddhapura village, Hassan district, Karnataka, seizing roughly eight tonnes of red sanders logs estimated at ₹5 crore.

Acting on a tip-off from March 1, the team, with local police support, raided a godown and later an open shed disguised as a poultry farm.

Authorities arrested eight individuals and recovered 195 logs along with vehicles used for transport. RSASTF officials inspected the haul and praised the team's efforts.

Red sanders, a protected species native to Andhra Pradesh's Seshachalam hills, faces heavy demand in international markets, fueling smuggling rings often crossing into neighboring states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
