Vijayawada, March 01, 2026: Communist Party of India national executive member K. Narayana addressed the media in Vijayawada on Sunday, criticising U.S. foreign policy under President Donald Trump as showing “authoritarian and destabilising tendencies.”

He highlighted risks from escalating conflicts in West Asia, particularly involving Iran, warning that any further flare-up could disrupt global oil markets and harm India's economy.

Narayana stressed India's heavy reliance on Gulf crude imports routed through critical chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz.

He noted potential impacts including higher fuel prices, elevated living costs, threats to millions of Indian workers in the region, and reduced foreign exchange inflows.

He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to adopt an independent foreign policy focused on energy security, peace, and balanced diplomacy to shield national interests amid global instability.
