Amaravati, March 01, 2026: Officials announced the completion of upgrades for 5,000 mini Anganwadi centres into full-fledged ones.

This includes dedicated buildings, safe drinking water via RO units, toilets, televisions, toys, educational charts, induction stoves, and better cooking utensils. The move addresses long-standing needs and supports nutritious meals for children and mothers.

Housing and I&PR Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy highlighted the transformation of these centres into pre-primary schools.

The initiative has contributed to lower maternal and infant mortality rates. Related efforts include ₹86.68 lakh for water and sanitation, plus ₹75 crore for 5G-enabled phones to 58,204 Anganwadi teachers for efficient reporting.
