Amaravati, March 01, 2026: Chief Justice of India Surya Kant laid the foundation stone for the Andhra Pradesh Judicial Academy at Pichukalapalem near Amaravati on Sunday.

He also inaugurated a new residential complex for High Court judges and laid the stone for a Judges' Guest House, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in attendance.

The ₹165 crore academy will train 120 judges per batch across academic blocks, hostels, sports facilities, and a 500-seat auditorium. These steps bolster Amaravati's "Justice City" vision.

At a Vijayawada symposium, the CJI pushed for a stronger mediation culture under the 2023 Mediation Act, calling it a preferred, cost-effective way to ease court burdens and resolve disputes amicably.
