Amaravati, February 28, 2026: Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Nara Lokesh announced in the Legislative Assembly that a vigilance inquiry is underway to investigate alleged irregularities by former Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Prasada Reddy.

The probe follows claims that the Visakhapatnam-based institution functioned like a YSRCP office during the previous regime, with indiscriminate appointments of party activists to university posts.

Lokesh, responding to questions from Visakhapatnam MLAs, stated the inquiry report is expected within 45 days, after which stringent action will follow. He also highlighted a separate special manpower audit, set for completion in 30 days, to address ineligible appointments across government universities.
