Amaravati, February 28, 2026: A massive explosion tore through the Surya Sri Fire Works manufacturing unit in Vetlapalem village, Samarlakota mandal, Kakinada district, on Saturday afternoon, killing at least 21 workers many of them women, and leaving others with severe injuries.
Around 30-35 people were present, mixing explosives for firecrackers amid high demand from wedding and festival seasons, when safety lapses triggered the high-intensity blast that damaged nearby structures and scattered remains.
