Amaravati, February 28, 2026: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have begun high-level talks to coordinate preparations for the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams, a major 12-day Hindu river festival expected to draw over 10 crore devotees for holy dips in the Godavari.
The event runs from June 26 to July 7, 2027, across six Andhra Pradesh districts Polavaram, Eluru, East Godavari, West Godavari, Konaseema, and Kakinada with 373 bathing ghats planned along the river.
Officials aim to match the scale of the Maha Kumbh Mela, including temple renovations, road upgrades, sanitation, water supply, traffic control, and special facilities for women. Andhra Pradesh has allocated ₹60 crore initially and set up tent cities near Rajamahendravaram.
Telangana has proposed ₹530 crore for its side. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu pushed for close coordination to ease devotee movement during overlapping auspicious periods.
