Amaravati, February 28, 2026: Anganwadi workers and helpers affiliated with the CITU-backed Andhra Pradesh union pressed their relay hunger strike into its third day at Prakasam Bhavan in Ongole on February 27.

The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) Prakasam district extended solid support, with district general secretary Kankanala Ramadevi addressing the protesters and pressing for immediate wage increases.

Workers highlight broken commitments: during their earlier 42-day strike, current Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu then in opposition, promised salary revisions upon assuming power, yet no action has followed after two years.

They also criticize inadequate budget support for the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, a government order on gratuity seen as counterproductive, and the gradual weakening of pre-school facilities.
