Amaravati, February 28, 2026: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated Andhra Pradesh's free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme at Cheepurupalli in Vizianagaram district.

The initiative, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's national launch from Ajmer, focuses on protecting adolescent girls from HPV strains that cause cervical cancer the second most common cancer among Indian women.

The drive targets around 3.45 lakh 14-year-old girls across the state, with vaccinations available at 1,645 primary and urban health centres equipped for cold storage.

The government has allocated ₹14.11 crore, received 1.90 lakh initial doses of the quadrivalent vaccine (covering types 6, 11, 16, and 18), and plans additional supplies as needed. Parental consent is mandatory, and recipients get certificates after vaccination.

Health teams monitor progress via the U-WIN digital platform, supported by a state control room and 24/7 helpline (104).
