Amaravati, February 27, 2026: Remarks by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Rayalaseema lift irrigation projects sparked chaos in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Thursday.

During Question Hour in Vijayawada, YSRCP members protested fiercely over claims that Revanth Reddy intervened to halt key works, including the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator and Galeru-Nagari Sujala Sravanthi schemes.

Opposition leaders accused political motives behind delays, demanded clear government confirmation on whether projects stopped, and pushed for resumption timelines. The House saw slogan-shouting and a short adjournment after near-clashes.

Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu dismissed the uproar as needless controversy, noting neighboring leaders often speak for political gain. He stressed Andhra Pradesh's commitment to Rayalaseema's water needs, with phased completion of pending irrigation efforts underway and no regional injustice occurring.
