Newsroom, February 27, 2026: Indian Railways unveiled the RailTech Portal as part of a new Rail Tech Policy to boost innovation.

The platform allows startups, innovators, and institutions to submit detailed proposals digitally in a single-stage process.

It targets areas like AI for safety features such as elephant intrusion detection, fire alerts in coaches, drone-based rail checks, and obstruction sensing in fog along with solar integration and better cleaning systems.

The policy offers up to 50% funding for development costs and promises large-scale orders for successful solutions. This shift simplifies vendor processes and focuses on trials and adoption, aligning with the "52 Reforms in 52 Weeks" initiative.
