Amaravati, February 27, 2026: Andhra Pradesh's Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar announced that the state government will soon launch recruitment for staff in the Electricity Department.
This move, approved by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, aims to fill critical vacancies and reduce reliance on outsourced workers.
The minister told the Legislative Council that strong field-level staffing is key to delivering quality, uninterrupted power across the state.
Currently, about 18,000 personnel handle supply and restoration through contracts. In parallel, 5,580 Secretariat Energy Assistants are completing specialized training at the Centre of Excellence in Visakhapatnam. Once integrated, they could address over 77% of existing shortages.
Recruitment for roles like Assistant Engineers is expected to start imminently, alongside ongoing infrastructure upgrades under schemes like RDSS.
