Vijayawada, February 27, 2026: Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad announced that the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly passed key amendments to the Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfers) Act.
The change permits assignees to lease their lands on long-term basis to companies developing clean energy projects, particularly solar power.
The leasing rate stands at ₹31,000 per acre per year, with a 5% escalation every two years. This provides stable additional income for poor landowners while supporting the state's green energy push.
Renewable proposals worth ₹10 lakh crore have already arrived, with potential to set up 10,000 MW of solar capacity and create nearly 7.5 lakh jobs advancing the government's target of 20 lakh employment opportunities.
The reform removes earlier barriers that prevented assigned lands from industrial use in the energy sector.
