Amaravati, February 26, 2026: Devarakonda Sujatha of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was elected unanimously as mayor of the Nellore Municipal Corporation during a special council meeting.
The presiding officer, Joint Collector Mogili Venkateswarlu, announced her selection after her nomination by in-charge mayor Roop Kumar Yadav and support from TDP corporators.
YSR Congress Party members did not attend, leading to no opposition and a smooth, uncontested process. Key figures present included Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and NMC Commissioner Y. O. Nandan.
