Amaravati, February 26, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly today approved the Andhra Pradesh Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfers) (Amendment) Bill, 2026. This changes the 1977 Act, which bars transfers of lands given to landless poor for farming.

The update lets the government lease such lands to A.P. Rural Agriculture Power Limited (formerly A.P. Green Energy Corporation Limited) for solar and other clean energy setups under the A.P. Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024.

Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad introduced the bill, which replaces a 2025 ordinance. It supports the state's goal of adding major renewable capacity and drawing big investments to fight climate change.
