Amaravati, February 25, 2026: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams ghee controversy continues to stir Andhra Pradesh politics.

A CBI-led Special Investigation Team report, submitted earlier this year, found that between 2019 and 2024, suppliers delivered nearly 60 lakh kg of adulterated product not real ghee but a mix of palm oil, synthetic additives, and hazardous chemicals.

No milk was used in production, and falsified documents hid the fraud. This affected over 20 crore laddus distributed as prasadam to devotees.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called it a “great sin” and alleged organised syndicates conspired during the prior YSRCP government.

Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan echoed concerns over public health and faith. The opposition YSRCP counters that no animal fats were involved, claims partial vindication, and points to alleged links between suppliers and the current ruling family.
