Amaravati, February 25, 2026: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the ₹456 crore feeder canal lining component of the long-awaited Veligonda project in Markapuram district's Gantavanipally on Wednesday.

The initiative strengthens the canal to deliver reliable irrigation, addressing chronic water scarcity in Prakasam region's constituencies like Markapuram, Yerragondapalem, Giddalur, and Kanigiri, plus parts of Kadapa district.

Officials aim to finish this phase within 14 weeks, with the full project set for dedication by July 2026 after significant prior spending of over ₹5,451 crore on construction.
