Amaravati, February 25, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has lauded Minister Nara Lokesh for his prompt and responsible handling of an incident where several girl students at a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in A. Konduru, NTR district, were bitten by rats due to poor maintenance and negligence at the residential school.

During suo motu contempt proceedings, the court highlighted Lokesh's immediate intervention, which spurred swift action from the district administration to address the girls' needs and improve conditions.

Justices observed that while the minister discharged his duties effectively including announcements like a wage hike for KGBV teachers, slackness by certain officials risked disrepute to both the government and the minister.
