Amaravati, February 24, 2026: Farmers from Damavaram village in Dagadarthi mandal, Nellore district, have accused Revenue Department officials of accepting bribes to wrongly include 15 individuals as perpetual leaseholders eligible for compensation in the land acquisition for the proposed greenfield airport.

The state government, through a January 2026 order, approved acquiring 418.14 acres at ₹13 lakh per acre for the Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited (APADCL) project.

Farmers claim historical lease records show 700 acres held for over a century, but official lists reflect only 671.75 acres potentially sidelining rightful owners of the remaining land. They allege collusion led to fraudulent inclusions, risking unfair payouts.
