Amaravati, February 24, 2026: Food safety teams launched statewide inspections on milk booths and distribution points today, collecting samples of both packaged and loose milk for lab testing.
The drive follows a tragic incident in Rajamahendravaram where four people died and several others fell ill after consuming suspected adulterated milk, prompting swift action to enforce standards.
Raids focused on areas like Vijayawada, including spots such as Currency Nagar and Krishna Lanka, under the direction of Food Safety Commissioner G. Verrapandian.
Officials stressed strict rules: only stainless steel containers for transport and storage, proper hygiene, accurate records of milk sources, and zero tolerance for harmful additives or chemicals.
Violations can lead to severe penalties, including life imprisonment in grave cases. Samples head to labs in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and elsewhere for analysis.
