Vijayawada, February 24, 2026: Nearly 7,000 women staff across regular, contract, and outsourced roles in APSRTC held a protest at Dharna Chowk under the RTC Women Workers’ Convening Committee banner.

They highlighted rising physical and mental strain from higher passenger loads since the Stree Shakti scheme launched, without matching increases in buses, staff, or adjusted schedules.

Key demands include monthly grievance hearings for women, child care and special leave, no forced overtime, better restrooms, anti-harassment committees, action on conductor harassment, concessions for those over 50, duties ending before 9 p.m., and conductor doors on buses.
