Vijayawada, February 23, 2026: A health seminar organized by Praja Arogya Vedika drew around 500 attendees on February 22 to address the surge in cardiac cases among young people in Andhra Pradesh and beyond.
Cardiologist Dr. A. Purnanand explained that factors like unhealthy eating, stress, smoking, alcohol use, and post-Covid effects have shifted heart disease from older adults to younger ones. He stressed that about 80% of such conditions are avoidable through consistent prevention.
Key steps include eating balanced meals, exercising at least one hour daily, getting enough sleep, building strong social ties, and managing stress. Regular check-ups are vital for those with diabetes or high blood pressure.
