Amaravati, February 23, 2026: Four elderly people in Rajamahendravaram died over the past two days after consuming milk suspected of adulteration, triggering acute renal failure and anuria.

The victims, aged 72 to 85, lived in areas like Choudeswari Nagar, Swarup Nagar, and Lalacheruvu. At least 12 others remain hospitalized with similar symptoms. Authorities detained one unauthorized milk vendor and seized his unit; samples from affected households are under lab testing.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held an emergency review, directing swift medical care, full treatment costs coverage, and a thorough inquiry.

He announced ₹10 lakh ex gratia for each victim's family and strict punishment if adulteration is proven. Former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned alleged lapses in food safety enforcement, offered condolences, and urged immediate statewide inspections to safeguard public health.
