Rajahmundry, February 23, 2026: Authorities in East Godavari district report four deaths from anuria a sudden halt in urine production signalling acute kidney failure over the past two days.

All victims, aged 58 to 76 and including two women, lived in Swaroop Nagar and Chowdeswari Nagar. They had drunk milk supplied by the same local vendor, who sourced from around 46 farmers and served 108 families in these areas.

District Collector Kirthi Chekuri confirmed the common link at a press briefing, noting that vulnerable groups include those over 50 and young children. Health teams collected blood samples from 73 affected families and fodder from cattle for forensic analysis.
