Amaravati, February 23, 2026: The central government has sanctioned ₹2,432 crore for the amended BharatNet project in Andhra Pradesh.

Officials signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Amaravati on February 22 to expand high-speed broadband to 13,426 village panchayats.

The plan includes upgrading networks in 1,692 Phase I panchayats, completing connectivity in 11,254 Phase II villages, and extending services to 480 new gram panchayats. It targets last-mile access in 3,942 villages and aims for 98% network uptime.

he state formed Andhra Pradesh BharatNet Infrastructure Limited as a special purpose vehicle for smooth rollout. Leaders highlighted the push for reliable internet to every household within 18 months. This supports online education, telemedicine, governance reforms, and AI services.
