Amaravati, February 22, 2026: Police personnel across Chittoor and Annamayya districts observed the 175th death anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy by paying floral tributes to his portrait and reflecting on his courage.

In Chittoor, Additional Superintendent of Police (Armed Reserve) M. Devadas led the ceremony at the District Armed Reserve Office, describing Reddy as Rayalaseema's first revolutionary who challenged colonial authority despite scarce resources.

Similar observances took place in Rayachoti, Annamayya district, where Additional SP (Administration) M. Venkatadri highlighted Reddy's mobilization of locals after the 1846 abolition of the Palegar system.

Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, executed by hanging on February 23, 1847, in Koilkuntla after leading an armed uprising, is remembered as a trailblazer in India's early resistance to British rule well before the 1857 revolt.
