Amaravati, February 22, 2026: Andhra Pradesh's health department reports strong progress against vector-borne diseases. Malaria cases declined from 25,042 in 2015 to 7,119 in 2025 a 71.57% reduction as the state advances toward its 2030 elimination goal.

Early data for 2026 shows only 166 cases in the first six weeks, compared to 625 during the same period in 2025, marking a 73.44% drop. Dengue cases followed a similar trend, falling from 6,453 in 2023 and 5,555 in 2024 to 2,686 in 2025.

Cases remain concentrated in tribal and forested districts like Alluri Sitarama Raju and Parvathivaram Manyam, which accounted for about 75% of malaria in 2025 due to terrain and migration factors.

Several districts, including Bapatla, West Godavari, and Konaseema, reported zero malaria cases for three years.

Officials credit intensified measures such as indoor residual spraying, anti-larval operations, fogging, and Gambusia fish release in water bodies. Distribution of mosquito nets to tribal areas is underway, alongside stronger fever surveillance and testing.
