Amaravati, February 21, 2026: Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, achieved a major milestone by performing its inaugural heart transplantation on a young woman from Vizianagaram.
The 21-year-old patient, K. Sathyavathi, had battled advanced heart failure and received the organ through Andhra Pradesh's Jeevandan organ donation programme, with additional support from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Led by Dr. Dilip Ratti and a multidisciplinary team, the surgery highlighted the hospital's advanced infrastructure, including life support systems essential for such complex procedures.
The patient is recovering well. State coordinator K. Rambabu noted that government coordination stands ready to help more waiting patients.
