Amaravati, February 21, 2026: Lanka Dinakar, Chairman of the Implementation of Twenty Point Programme (Viksit Bharat – Swarna Andhra Pradesh), cautioned against excessive freebies during a media interaction in Tirupati on February 20.

He emphasised the need for prudent fiscal measures by states and political parties to mitigate economic strain while advancing India's development goals.

Dinakar referenced recent observations from the Chief Justice of India on how unchecked freebies harm fiscal management.

He aligned his views with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's emphasis on structural reforms over short-term populism.

The chairman called for stronger dialogue between the Union and state governments to promote sound financial governance, reduce unproductive spending, and establish better debt management priorities tied to realising a developed Andhra Pradesh within a Viksit Bharat framework.
