Amaravati, February 21, 2026: The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) launched its flagship State Chess League 2026 in Tirupati on Saturday, drawing 360 talented competitors who advanced from district trials involving 2,445 players across all 26 districts.
The two-day event spans under-19, under-17, under-15, and under-13 categories, aiming to build strategic thinking, discipline, and leadership among youth.
Dignitaries, including former Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi, SAAP Chairman A. Ravi Naidu, Vice-Chairperson S. Bharani, and others inaugurated the tournament.
Organisers played friendly games with participants, stressing chess's role in character development and opportunity creation under state initiatives.
