Newsroom, February 21, 2026: Florida's Republican-led legislature gave final approval this week to rename Palm Beach International Airport the main gateway near President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach to President Donald J. Trump International Airport.

The bill passed the House 81-30 and the Senate 25-11 along party lines. Governor Ron DeSantis is widely expected to sign it, though federal FAA approval is also required before the switch takes effect, potentially by July.

Democrats opposed the change, citing concerns over precedent, ethics, and waiting until after his term. Supporters praised it as fitting recognition for his contributions to infrastructure and America-first policies.
