Amaravati, February 21, 2026: Andhra Pradesh's Chief Secretary has directed district collectors to speed up key solar energy programs, aiming to position the state as a national leader in renewables.

Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand reviewed progress in a meeting at the AP Secretariat in Vijayawada. He stressed fast-tracking PM Surya Ghar (Muft Bijli Yojana) for rooftop solar, PM-KUSUM, and Feeder Level Solarisation (FLS) projects.

So far, 98,433 rooftop systems are installed, adding 329.67 MW capacity. Under FLS, work covers over 1,119 agricultural feeders with 1,162.8 MW, helping around 2.9 lakh pump sets.

Collectors must coordinate with power utilities to clear applications, speed approvals, and monitor fieldwork closely.

The state targets 20 lakh rooftop installations far above its share of the national one-crore goal to cut electricity costs for homes and farmers while advancing clean energy and sustainable growth under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's vision.
