Newsroom, February 21, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that Left-Wing Extremism, or Maoism, will end across India by March 31 this year.

Speaking at the 87th Raising Day Parade of the Central Reserve Police Force in Guwahati, Assam, he expressed full confidence in the CRPF to meet the deadline.

Shah highlighted how security forces turned major challenges terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, insurgency in the northeast, and Maoism into zones of peace and growth.

He pointed to recent operations, including one along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border, that weakened Maoist networks significantly.

Recent reviews show affected districts shrinking sharply, with Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitarama Raju district among those once impacted but now seeing reduced presence amid national drives.
