Vijayawada, February 19: The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly approved seven key amendment bills during its Budget Session, spanning municipal governance, energy, panchayat elections, health, and endowments.

The measures aim to boost administrative efficiency, align state rules with national laws, and promote transparency.

Highlights include updates to municipal laws for clearer Vacant Land Tax collection (with 50% relief during construction phases), alignment of panchayat voter registration with four quarterly qualifying dates for easier enrolment, mandatory registration for AYUSH medical establishments to curb unqualified practice, and fixes to electricity duty rules under the 2003 Electricity Act. Other bills addressed endowments and the governance of Vedic universities.

Ministers explained the changes as steps toward regulatory clarity and public benefit, with introductions handled across departments, including on behalf of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for the panchayat bill.
