Amaravati, February 18, 2026: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) introduced the Infrared Road Pothole Repairing Mobile Machine, nicknamed 'Road Doctor', in a push for faster, greener road maintenance.
Priced at ₹1.48 crore and funded through 15th Finance Commission grants under the National Clean Air Programme, the machine uses infrared technology to heat, recycle, and level damaged asphalt without high-temperature tar burning.
Officials flagged it off at Guru Nanak Colony main road, with Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath and East MLA Gadde Rammohan highlighting its role in smoother roads and cleaner air. Plans include adding more units for rapid response across the city.
