Amaravati, February 18, 2026: Devotees filled the ancient Srikalahasti temple in Tirupati district for the highlight of the Mahashivaratri festivities the sacred Kalyanotsavam.

Priests adorned the idols of Lord Srikalahastheeswara Swamy and Goddess Gnana Prasunambika Devi in jewels before placing them on separate palanquins for a ceremonial procession. Rituals culminated in the symbolic tying of the nuptial knot, followed by a street parade on Gaja Vahanam and Simha Vahanam vehicles.

This key event, the most significant in the 13-day Brahmotsavams that began February 10, drew thousands chanting hymns and seeking blessings.

Temple authorities ensured smooth conduct while vigilantly preventing any underage marriages during the traditional mass weddings 59 couples tied the knot on the auspicious day, blending divine and human unions in Andhra Pradesh's spiritual heartland.
