Amaravati, February 18, 2026: After decades as Andhra Pradesh's drought epicentre, the region spanning Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts is experiencing a dramatic shift to water plenty.

Key lift schemes channelling Krishna and Tungabhadra river flows have supplied 107.557 TMC through canals over the past eight months, with current storage in reservoirs, tanks, and aquifers reaching 63.667 TMC.

The Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project alone lifted 44.042 TMC of Krishna water since July, directing substantial volumes to district borders and filling tanks that support farming revival.

Near-normal rainfall this season 456.4 mm in Anantapur and 503.9 mm in Sri Sathya Sai, has aided recharge, pushing groundwater to 33.010 TMC.
