Amaravati, February 18, 2026: Parents of a Class 6 student who died under suspicious circumstances at a private coaching centre in Singarayakonda, Prakasam district, protested in Ongole demanding accountability from the management.

The boy, Sayyed Toushik, reportedly died on February 14 after an alleged attempt by hanging in the bathroom while preparing for the Navodaya entrance exam. Authorities shifted him to a hospital in Kandukur, where he was declared dead.

Relatives blocked a busy road for hours, drawing support from Dalit leaders and student unions. Police reassigned the investigating officer following complaints, with action promised based on the post-mortem.

The Parents Association of Andhra Pradesh called for Education Minister intervention, an impartial probe, arrest of centre staff, and cancellation of its recognition amid rising concerns over student safety in coaching environments.
