Amaravati, February 18, 2026: National Sanskrit University (NSU) in Tirupati announced the creation of Yogi Vemana Yoga Parishat during the closing of Yoga Sangama 2026, an all-India yoga competition among Sanskrit universities held February 16-17.
Vice-Chancellor G.S.R. Krishnamurthy highlighted yoga's role in reducing student stress and its untapped scientific benefits for modern life.
The new parishat will organize annual national competitions tied to Vemana's January 20 birth anniversary, building on the success of this year's event that drew teams from 14 universities across states, including Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Uttarakhand.
Maharashtra's Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University claimed the top Yoga Vyjayanthi trophy.
