Amaravati, February 17, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh government has confirmed free power supply for the state's handloom and power-loom sector, fulfilling an election promise from the 2024 NDA manifesto.
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav announced during the 2026-27 Budget presentation that handloom weavers will get up to 200 units free per month, while power-loom units receive 500 units.
The scheme targets more than 1,03,000 weaving families, including around 93,000 traditional handloom households and over 10,000 power-loom operations.
