Amaravati, February 15, 2026: Devotees poured into the historic Srisailam temple in Nandyal district on Sunday for Mahashivaratri, one of Andhra Pradesh’s biggest spiritual events.

The day featured key rituals like Prabhotsavam, Pagalankarana, where Nandi statues received ceremonial turbans and the sacred Kalyanotsavam celestial marriage at midnight. Darshan opened early at 2:20 a.m., with thousands staying overnight for the auspicious occasion.

Temple authorities and the district administration arranged extra accommodations, a 30-bed hospital, ambulances, drinking water, and toilets.

APSRTC ran additional buses from nearby towns to handle the surge. Similar crowds gathered at other Shiva sites like Mahanandi and Yaganti. Authorities monitored the event closely to ensure safety.
